Organic Turkey and Homemade Stuffing Recipe

  • 2 tbsp fresh organic sage, chopped
  • 4 cloves organic garlic, minced
  • 1 organic lemon, halved
  • 1 organic onion, quartered
  • 2 cups organic chicken or vegetable broth
  • Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Turkey: Preheat your oven to 325°F. Remove the giblets (save them for gravy if desired!) and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  2. Make the Herb Butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with olive oil, garlic, thyme, rosemary, sage, salt, and pepper.
  3. Season the Turkey: Gently loosen the turkey skin around the breast and rub the herb butter under the skin. Rub any remaining butter over the outside of the bird.
  4. Stuff the Bird: Place the lemon halves and onion quarters into the turkey cavity.
  5. Roast: Set the turkey on a roasting rack in a large pan. Pour the broth into the bottom of the pan to keep the bird moist while roasting. Cover loosely with foil. Roast for 3–3.5 hours, basting every 30 minutes. Remove the foil for the final 30 minutes to allow the skin to crisp.   6. Rest: Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf organic whole-grain bread, cubed and toasted
  • 2 tbsp organic butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large organic onion, diced
  • 2 organic celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 organic carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves organic garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh organic thyme, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh organic sage, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh organic parsley, chopped
  • 1 cup organic vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 organic egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. Prep the Bread: Cube the bread and toast in the oven at 300°F until slightly crisp, about 10–12 minutes. Set aside in a large bowl.
  2. Cook the Veggies: Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, carrots, and garlic, cooking until softened (about 10 minutes). Stir in the thyme, sage, and parsley.
  3. Combine the Ingredients: Pour the vegetable mixture over the toasted bread cubes. Add the broth and toss until the bread is moist but not soggy. Stir in the beaten egg to bind the stuffing. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Bake: Transfer the stuffing to a greased casserole dish and cover with foil. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden.
